Looking Out Of My Window   2012, Internet based montage, video and sound, continuous loop,

Neighborhood XO Exhibition, sponsored by Goethe Institut for ActUp, Ankara, Turkey.

Cities around the globe are in constant flux and transformation due to continuous civil wars and upheavals. The video is an experimental visual mapping of resistance in the complex chaos and labyrinths of what used to be family “neighborhoods” and which are becoming “war zones”. Using generative data software, the video appropriates diverse sounds and “You Tube clips and other visual material from social networks to create new internet-based montage. Breaking apart and re-assembling, ripping and remixing, weaving together and simultaneously juxtaposing in nine channels a continuous series from those clips thus extending the radical practice of collage to the internet. The video addresses social issues, which explore the aftermath of a collective political crisis through the archive of viral clippings, and it is a critical reflection on the authenticity of those images and the profound changes in our understanding of identity, personal boundaries and self-representation through the uncertain state of visual imagery created out of network technologies and social media.
